Does anyone else see undertones of the Jerry Sandusky/Penn State scandal in the construction of the TD conspiracy?
Obviously, TD contains a ton of elements that you'll find in conspiracy stories dating back at least as far as the post-Watergate boom in conspiracy films, but some elements of Pizzolato's TD world seem to draw from the Sandusky story, particularly the similarities in the Tuttle family's use of schools and Sandusky's use of The Second Mile as victim farms and the notion that institutions are increasingly vulnerable to corruption as they grow more powerful.
I'd be interested to know if Pizzolato has used similar themes or stories prior to the Sandusky story.

Yeah, interesting parallels. I'd like to hear Pizzolato comment on that. My guess is that the Sandusky/PSU stuff at least partially informed the plot as it was being developed.

It actually seems more closely related to the child prostitution ring that was allegedly run from Lincoln Nebraska and Boys Town in the late 80's through the early 90's. It implicated people up to the White House, and people at the University of Nebraska were implicated too. One of those people was a Vice Provost named Graham Spanier, if that doesn't give you chills. He was also the President of Penn State that helped cover for Sandusky. It is a pretty interesting read. www.voxfux.com/features/bush_child_sex_coverup/franklin.htm

I don't have link at the moment but there is a current, ongoing case in southern Louisiana with a series of dead prostitutes and links to multiple law enforcement officers.

You know, it's funny you brought this up. I've thought about that for a while. Isn't Commander Speece a dead ringer for Sandusky? This guy:

I definitely think Speece is in on it.
