In the theory of there being some over-reaching network of men behind all of this and perhaps it being tied to religion, I find it very interesting that the three religious men we have been introduced to were all recognizable actors that were on screen for a surprisingly short stretch for the cache their names carry. The minister early on is Clarke Peters (Lester Freamon on The Wire and other things), Shea Whigham (Eli Thompson on Boardwalk Empire and many films) played the preacher of the travelling church in the tent, and Tuttle was played by classic that guy actor Jay O. Sanders. I guess we do know that Tuttle will be back in play here but I find it curious that guys of that ilk would be in such write-off roles.
Obviously this could all entirely be conjecture and mean nothing. Peters and Whigham are HBO vets so getting them to walk on for a quick appearance on this new show would probably be easy to do. Just looking for any hints of what could be.
Also, has anyone looked at the images embedded in the opening credits?
Edit....I just ran into something online but not sure if it would be considered a spoiler or should even mention pertaining to the top paragraph.

Was going to comment on it as well, but I'm sure what I saw would be considered a spoiler. So I will keep it to myself and curse that I found what I did.

If you check IMDb, you can see how many episodes a particular actor appears in, if you really want to spoil things for yourself.

For what it's worth...DirecTV has the episode descriptions of "Haunted Houses" and "After You've Gone," ...and there is a potential spoiler or 2 involved. Read at your own risk.

The networks have some latitude with IMDb as far as not spoiling things as far as episode counts. What I was referring to at the end of my original post contradicts some of what IMDb says.

At one point in ep 2, Rust asks Marty if he believes in ghosts. I wonder if that foreshadows "Haunted Houses".

I can't wait until Ep 6. Been watching the season this week and the refresher has been great...some great quotes I forgot: "People who don't feel guilt usually have a good time." Rust to Marty at lunch while talking about the difference between the two. When Marty asks Cohle "You know the difference between you and me?" and Rust quickly says, "Denial." Classic.

Yeah, Len, I like when Marty says, "I try not to be too hard on myself," and Rust shoots back, "That's mighty big of you."
